+Chapter Ten+
JC looked in confusion as he heard someone
pounding at the front door. He wasn’t sure if he should get it, so he sat
there scared. He brought his knees up to his chest and hugged his legs.
“JC, damnit, open the door!” Lance shouted out after getting tired from
banging.
“Lance?” JC said to himself as he got up and opened the door, “you’re
not supposed to be here.”
Lance walked in the house and looked out the window, “shit, she’s following
me.”
“You’re not supposed to be here,” JC watched as Lance locked the front
door, then ran into the kitchen and locked the backdoor.
“You don’t have any windows or anything else unlocked, do you?” Lance
walked back into the living room.
“No, but…” Lance grabbed JC’s are and started to pull him down the
hallway.
“Good. Now we have to go somewhere else,” Lance saw a little room at the end
of the hallway and walked in, “in here.”
“Ok, but you’re not supposed to be here,” JC repeated again. He watched as
Lance closed the blinds and door, than turned on the light.
“I’m allowed to. I got permission from the police,” Lance sat down on the
bed in the room.
“How’d you get permission?” JC sat down next to him.
“There’s a cop posted outside right?” Lance asked.
“Yea, there should be,” JC played around with the sheets.
“Good,” Lance nodded, “I remember what happened JC. You and Justin will be
free. Well, in thirty days that is.”
“Really?” as soon as JC’s excitement came it disappeared, “there has to
be a catch.”
“Well,” Lance looked at JC, “I’ll have to testify in court, but I’m
positive we can’t lose.”
“How positive?” JC eyed him.
“Well, about 95 percent,” Lance explained, “I just hope she doesn’t pull
any tricks.”
“She’s following you,” JC looked past Lance at the closed blinds, “what
for?”
“Yea, I don’t know why, but all I know is she’s up to something.”
JC and Lance both looked at the closed bedroom door as they heard someone
pounding on the front door.
“Who’s that?” JC didn’t take his eyes off the bedroom door.
“That would be the cop,” Lance stood up, “I have a time limit to be in
here and that time is up.”
“Lance,” JC stood up next to Lance.
“What?” Lance turned and faced him.
“I hope you’re right,” they hugged each other.
“I’ll be back to see you,” Lance backed up from the hug. He walked out of
the bedroom leaving JC all alone again.
JC sighed as he sat back down on the bed. He shook his head as he looked down
and started to pick his nails.
